WHERE IDEAS TURN INTO MOMENTUM

Build. Validate. Launch.
Who We Are
Momentum Spark is a student startup showcase at Douglas College in New Westminster, run out of the Commerce and Business Administration department. Once a term, students who've been building ventures for the New Venture Marketing Course get one night to pitch it for real, in front of a room of other students, mentors, judges, and people from around New West. Some have a working product already. Others just have an idea and a lot of nerve. Douglas is the biggest college in BC, and this is where its founders turn up.
Why we do this
Most students with a business idea never do anything with it. They follow founders online, watch the demo-day recaps, and figure the real thing happens somewhere else, to someone else. Momentum Spark exists to close that gap. We want curious students in the same room as people who've already built something, so that starting a company feels like a normal next step instead of a leap you take on your own. You don't have to be a business major to be here, and you don't need a finished idea. Curiosity is enough.
What makes us different
Plenty of pitch competitions are built around the people on stage. This one is built around everyone else in the room. You can turn up without an idea or a pitch, not knowing a single person there, and still leave with mentors, real feedback, and a couple of people worth staying in touch with. The ventures being pitched are not just academic assignments: they have real potential of making it. Entry is free, it happens right here in New Westminster, and if you've been sitting on something of your own, this is usually the night people finally start.
